Ariane along with her husband Denis run Amman Imman “Water is Hope”. They have enthusiastically added photo diplomacy through Dog Meets Word to their projects. See photos of the printer in action as the children await the first photographs that they have ever owned of themselves.

A drought and the violence in Libya has further stressed this subsistence community. Yet in their latest newsletter they write they look forward to their return to Niger to “be welcomed by our dear friends and the smiling, laughing faces of the children we’ve grown to know and love in our Azawak communities. It will be refreshing to sip tea and share stories with our friends, eat fresh vegetables that they’ve been able to grow thanks to the borehole water and listen to songs the children have learned since they’ve begun attending the school that has opened now that water has become available.”

Ariane Kirtley, founder of AmmanImman – WaterisHope a charity to bring clean water to a most remote area of Niger in West Africa has partnered with Dog Meets World. In this scene Ariane tells “as the sun was setting and I had finally made the round of all the families, I was printing out “family portraits” for the villagers of Tangarwashane. With me were sitting some of “my” little kids watching as the photos are being printed and as Sadouan with her husband Alhassan admired their family portrait. Before meeting me, these people had never seen a camera, a car, or any kind of technology. They lived as people did 500 years ago. Today, they’ve seen so much, from a borehole, to a camera, to a printer and their very own first picture!“

Ariane Kirtley founded a project to bring clean water to a desperately needy area of Niger where 500,000 people live on the brink. She says “While conducting my work with Amman Imman (Water is Hope), I document everything I do with photos. I have always wanted to give back the photos I take, and have never before had the opportunity before now. Thank you, Dog Meets World, for giving me that opportunity. Little Foto was a big hit, and has become the mascot for Amman Imman as well!”
