The thrill of posing for their first picture is followed by actually seeing the printing process. The primary colors are added to the photo paper during each pass through the printer. Here in Cite Soleil a local volunteer helped man the printer as the children gathered to watched in amazement. It’s simple to use and full color 4×6 photos were created in less than a minute! However, nothing topped their delight when they were presented with the finished photo of themselves.
The Daily Foto: Sharing the Experience

Phodographer Annabelle Gallois with local children printing pictures in Bercy, Haiti, July 2009
Annabelle wrote “What a joy it was to see these beautiful Haitian eyes light up when receiving a picture of themselves and their family. It was the most precious moment to share. It allowed the children from the orphanage (with whom we were traveling into the neighborhood village) to help out and participate in this photo sharing endeavor of Dog Meets World, when minds and heart were wide opened for us to create community all together. It brought tears to my eyes.”

The Daily Foto: Metal art village

Phodographer Leah Hudson in Croix Bouquets, Haiti, April 2009

The Dog Meets World photo team randomly stopped in this village. Steeped in Haitian history, Croix-des-Bouquets, is a good example of Haitian creativity – it resonates with the sounds of the clanging and banging of the mallets and chisels in the process of transforming raw metal into stunning iron sculptures. This was our backdrop to taking & giving the children their first photographs!
