Discovering
In 2008, I resigned my position as Director of Discovery Montessori School (www.dmsonline.org). My encore career combines what I am most passionate about, namely philanthropy, travel, photography and children and thus Dog Meets World was born. As I randomly encounter parents, students and teachers they ask for details of what Dr. Lane is up to these days (besides 5’2″). So, I sent out a group email to that community. Montessori classrooms would be a perfect cauldron for a children-helping-children fundraiser (something like Pennies for Pictures) and it would let them see real time kids in other parts of the world with geography lessons as a bonus!
The Wind Beneath My Wings
What is the source of your energy and sustained enthusiasm? Sometimes it’s the incredibly supportive words of complete strangers. Today I received this email from a friend of a friend:
Dear Carolyn,
What a wonderful idea…I have goose bumps and watery eyes because you are so right on. This little source of joy for these children would mean so much to them…I can just see how they would cherish the photo their whole life.
My children are young…I have three daughters. I would love to go one of you photo missions with them! I have lots of thoughts and can’t wait to talk to you. I also know some other people who are passionate about world traveling that I know would be inspired by your idea.Patti Hughes
Patti Hughes is destined to play a significant role in Dog Meets World.
