New Phodographer Kelly Crayne in San Ramone, Costa Rica July 2009

Kelly is a full time Special Ed teacher, muralist and professional photographer. Last minute jobs earned her enough money to join her church mission trip. In her words “One of the best parts of participating in the Dog Meets World project was that I was able to use one of my passions to do something for others. I love photography and was thrilled when our pastor at the mission house in Costa Rica asked if anyone would like to take an a new photography project.” Kelly found the children “were absolutely amazed by the whole process and it thrilled them to see themselves in a photograph.”

Vineyard Mom South Africa
Phodographer Carolyn Lane in Kuilsrivier, South Africa Feb. 2009

lowry-with-vineyard-workers I initially shot and distributed pictures for all the children in the Zevenwacht Winery Preschool. It occurred to me that if the children had never had their pictures taken, it was quite likely neither had their moms. So walking back I stopped along the vineyards and took pictures of every single working mom! When the lorry (truck) picked them up, they all shouted their gratitude and waved goodbye.

happy in Guatemala
Phodographer Halle Hughes around Lake Atitlan, Guatemala Mar. 2009

Patti Hughes wrote…we traveled through the mountains of Lake Atitlan and Antigua, Guatemala. We also helped founder of DOG MEETS WORLD global photo project, Carolyn Lane, launch one of the first Take and Give Photography field visits. We captured and printed pictures of children in remote, primitive villages, enabling them to receive their first photograph! Our daughters Madison, Halle and Gracie (ages 12, 10 & 8 ) on their first trip abroad enjoyed this part more than anything else. It was such a joy to give these children and families a gift like this. What a wonderful experience for all of us!

“My favorite part of DMW was watching the children smile looking at their pictures”
said young phodographer Halle, aged 10. This feedback illustrated that Dog Meets World can be a family adventure, literally kid-to-kid photo diplomacy.

I’m NOT kidding you, the name of this area in greater Cape Town South Africa is Beverly Hills! You just can’t make this stuff up. This little guy might not be famous, but he is a star to his mother.

"The kids are absolutely loving Dog Meets World. For a majority, these were the first images of themselves that they have ever owned."
