Phodographer Carolyn Lane in Jubba, Jordan January 2010

Double the experience when traveling! While in Jordan for a GAP Adventures trip, I brought along Foto and the printer. Taking and immediately printing out pictures allowed another level of interaction with local Jordanians. Everyone can practice this most basic form of giving back or voluntourism…sharing through the power of photography! I was able to introduce the project to our entire travel group and 2 members indicated they will be taking Dog Meets World on their next trip.

Phodographer Samm Coffin near Cape Town, South Africa, May 2010

Samm is studying abroad in South Africa. She is a member of Habitat for Humanity at home and in Stellenbosch. She took Foto, the pup and the printer along on a build to see if she would have the opportunity to take some photographs. It turned out to be the day they finished the home and had the dedication ceremony. Samm wrote “This family lived in a shack that I was able to go inside of. They had barely anything and NO pictures. I was able to print for the homeowner (seen left) a picture of herself and her two little boys with not only the date of the photo, but also the date they got their first REAL house. It was amazing. Her eyes watered as she tried so hard to hold back the tears. She asked us all to sign the back of the photograph. It was one of the most rewarding DMW experiences I have had. ALSO I was able to share Dog Meets World with all 25+ volunteers helping with the house build.”

Phodographers in South Africa and Guatemala!

Dog Meets World was founded to share personal photography with those in need in the world. Children are thrilled to see their first photos, but the most poignant moments come when moms behold their children’s pictures. It’s a priceless gift and honors the eternal mother-child bond. Happy Mother’s Day to all moms in the world!

Daily Foto: Seeing one’s potential in a photo in Haiti

Phodographer Leah Hudson in Ibo Beach, Haiti, April 2009

Merci, merci” was the refrain heard when volunteers with Dog Meets World took and printed up pictures for the entire school in Ibo Beach, supported by Haiti Outreach Ministries, along the coast about an hour from Port-au-Prince. Most of the students had never had a photo of themselves and for sure not in their school uniforms. We in the USA take for granted our access to documenting our lives in photos.

It is the ardent hope of Dog Meets World that by seeing themselves in a beautiful photograph, the students will see their potential more clearly.

"Dog Meets World went over fabulously in my village. It is a perfect option for Peace Corps volunteers like myself. I like the Foto dog mascot, kids like it, and it is a representation of the peace and the ideas of the project."

Kristen Woodruff, Phodographer Costa Rica

"The kids are absolutely loving Dog Meets World. For a majority, these were the first images of themselves that they have ever owned."
