Daily Foto: Childhood is so sweet to remember in a photo.

Graduating Phodographer Becca Cohen in Agua Prieta, Mexico, March 2010
Hurray and BOW WOW for all Spring 2010 Graduates, including Dog Meets World intern Becca Cohen.
Becca dedicated hours of work this semester, including taking the photo project to this Mexican border town on her Alternate Spring Break. Adding DMW gave all the Univ. Maryland, College Park students an easy way to interact with the local children. Becca said “We were building an addition with a family, so on the first day on the worksite we took pictures of their kids. The next day neighbors came by with their kids to have their pictures taken. Johanna, the daughter of the family we were building with, would come up to us making a “take a picture” sign with her hands to communicate that someone new wanted a picture. Seeing the clamor and excitement as they watched the pictures print was incredible.”
Daily Foto: VERY first photos for villagers in Niger…the sands of time!

Phodographer is Ariane Kirtley in the Azawak region of Niger, West Africa, April 2010
Dog Meets World teamed up with Ariane, founder of AmmanImman, Water is Hope to bring very first pictures and clean water to the people of this very desolate, impoverished and remote region of Niger. Here the children are patiently watching and waiting for Ariane to print the first pictures anyone has ever seen of themselves. Imagine the amazement. More to come!
Daily Foto: Picture Perfect in Peru

Phodographer John Rader, educator in Cusco, Peru, March 2010
This is the perfect picture (okay it’s today’s perfect picture because at Dog Meets World all the pictures capture perfect images to share). This child raises money on the streets of the old Incan capital by offering to pose for tourists. Educator John Rader on a spring break trip was the first to offer her a copy for herself. The baby goat and little Foto have identical coloring and they look like they’re happily interacting, actually I think they’re “kissing”. Sharing a photo on-the-spot leaves an indelible affirmation and a tiny seed of peace. Teachers make perfect phodograpahers!
Everyone should have a picture of their children and grandchildren.

I, Carolyn Lane, founder of Dog Meets World heard Michelle Obama at the commencement on the National Mall for George Washington University. These words struck me as telling for DMW….Michelle described a diplomatic meeting in which Secretary Clinton said she “…thought everyone should bring pictures of their children and grandchildren to international meetings, and set those pictures right in front of them and ask themselves, “Is the decision that we’re about to make going to make their lives better?”
Dog Meets World exists because the reality is that so many people in the world do not have a single picture of themselves, their children or grandchildren. Imagine how powerful it would be to share a photo. Join us, become a phoDOGrapher!
Michelle concluded her remarks saying “But just know that when you serve others abroad, you’re serving our country, too. You’re showing the world the true face of America –- our generosity, our strength, the enduring power of our ideals, the infinite reservoir of our hope.”
Thanks Michelle for reminding us how we can all touch the lives of others.
Daily Foto: The Magic Printer mesmerizes in Brazil

Phodographer John Carr in Buenos Aires, Brazil, Dec. 2009
John ended his months long backpacking trip around South America by volunteering in a kindergarten for children in one of the poorest villas in Buenos Aires: Los Eucalypts, Suarez. The kindergarten, Jardin Traversuras, is run by donated money and is down to the hard work of a local woman, Lorena, who spends every day with the children before going to work. The children are all aged 3-5 and would otherwise be playing in the streets; they are all absolutely amazing. He took his camera and printer into the kindergarten and spent two hours taking and printing pictures – much to their delight and the gratitude of Lorena.
John says he became a “phoDOGrpaher” because he was “Keen to give something back, spread joy and meet people in the places I travel.”
