Phodographer is Austin Lane in Huilloq, Peru, Nov. 2008

In late 2008, Austin co-founded Dog Meets World with his mother Carolyn Lane. He took the project to Peru while on a hiking-biking adventure trip and took time to wander off the beaten path to this village to practice the new concept of Take & Give Photography. He’s shown here printing pictures on-the-spot and for many it was their very first photographs. His engaging and rewarding experience as a photo diplomat while traveling confirmed the vision and value of DMW. Austin has been instrumental in the success of DMW and we all wish him a very Happy Birthday!

NEW Phodographer Chinmoy Majumdar in Subash Colony, Lalbagh, West Bengal, India, March 2010

Chinmoy said “It was great doing Dog Meets World at a school. It is much easier. I only took a table of kids out at a time and though it took a while it was more personable. The children pushed the print button for their own picture, exciting so many of them in ways I could have never imagined. I know I was giving something so meaningful to them but it meant so much to me.

NEW Phodographer Lara Levine in La Estrella, Nicaragua Feb. 2010

The Dog Meets World project was taken with a teen group from buildOn, a terrific nonprofit that seeks to empower youth through different national and international service opportunities. Lara Levine led 16 mostly urban high school students from all over Connecticut to a village called La Estrella in Nicaragua to build a school and learn about the local culture. What is an easier or more fun way to make additional connections than to practice Take & Give photography with Foto? Here is 16 year old Stephanie Davis with her new friends in Nicaragua!

Lara said of Dog Meets World, “The only issue for us was that on top of everything else we had to do during our time in the village it was a little time consuming but it didn’t matter cause it was so great!” Thanks to all the new student phodographers from buildOn!

NEW phodographer Becca Cohen in Augua Prieta, Mexico, March 2010

Children helped with the printing process for Dog Meets World at an orphanage in a Mexican border town. The children at the orphanage ranged from six months to age fourteen, and none of them have any family. The kids were excited to add a personal photo to their small collection of personal belongings.

Becca is doing an internship with Dog Meets World and introduced the project to her fellow students on an alternative spring break trip with Hillel at University of Maryland, College Park. One participant remarked that “witnessing a child’s face light up after owning… a picture of himself was a breathtaking experience“.
