The girls in the village of Zunil, Guatemala were fascinated watching their first photos being printed right in front of their eyes. Patti loved the immediacy of the exchange of Taking a picture and Giving a picture for Dog Meets World and the sharing experience with the local children.

Marissa Newman lead a group of students from the University of MD Hillel organization on a service alternate winter break trip and brought along the Dog Meets World project. She recounts that:
They were invited into a family’s house. There were five or six children whose father had died. They photographed all of the family and the mom (seen on the right) began opening up to one of the UMD students (in the red t-shirt). When the mom got the picture, she touched her hand to the student’s heart and touched the picture to her own heart.” Says it all. Happy Valentine’s Day to all.

On their first return to the small village where Anna and her husband Anibal met and fell in love, they included time for the Dog Meets World project and took 50 photos of the local children. As a former Peace Corps volunteer, Anna immediately saw the value in sharing personal photography. She passed on the equipment and the little Foto dog to current Peace Corps volunteer and friend Kirsten Woodruff, who has already been busy practicing Take & Give Photography for DMW!
