While each photo was printed up in less than a minute on the portable printer, the process was completely mesmerizing and the children hung around and waited for all the prints to be finished….fun interactive cross cultural time!

Initially the principal of the school, did not like the word “dog” in the title of the project and did not want his students posing with Foto. He stated “Haitian do not like dogs and to refer to someone as a dog is an ugly term.” Our translator explained in Creole that “people generally hate rodents, yet Mickey Mouse is the most recognized cartoon figure worldwide. Likewise a small stuffed dog is not a real dog.” He accepted and understood how little Foto is a mascot/prop and unites all the children and photographs. He actually asked to have his picture taken with Foto too!
