Dog Meets World is designated Charity of the One-Click Photo Project

Sep 30, 2009   //   General  //  1 Comment

Next Wednesday, Oct. 7th from 6-8 during Art Walk in downtown Jacksonville FL, professional photographer Daniel Gonclaves will take one photo of each person that stops by. He will treat the photo as if it’s on a film camera and it’s the very last frame on a roll of film. The project aims to show “A Slice of Jacksonville.” Daniel hopes that the project will show people’s guarded and unguarded moments in that first click of the camera’s shutter. This is the third part of a long term photography social study.

The photo project will also help raise awareness and funds for a Dog Meets World. See all the details at the One-Click Photo Project.One-Click Ad.

Phodographer Denis Oswald busy printing in Lacul, Haiti, April 2009

After serving as the translator while the Dog Meets World photo team was in Haiti in April, Denis instantly took on the role of photo printer (above, left). He was immensely helpful and took the project to heart watching the children of Haiti receive their first photographs! When we departed, we decided to set up Denis with the equipment and supplies to continue with DMW. Challenging access and troubles uploading his photos have been resolved and now this one (above, right) and over 100 other photos have been received!! How exciting. Click on the map of the world on the right hand side of this blog (scroll down) and take a look at all of his pictures. Your donations help support in-country phodograhers like Denis.

Halle's girl from Guatemal
Phodographer Halle Hughes, age 10 in Santiago, Guatemala March 2009

This unbelievable photograph was taken by 10 year old Halle Hughes traveling with her family over springbreak. Practicing Dog Meets World, she and her sisters fully easily participated. This photo was immediately shared with this exquisitely dressed child and her mother. Contrast that to the story of “Now, after searching for 17 years, National Geographic has once again found the Afghan girl with the haunting green eyes. She was one of the world’s most famous faces, yet no one knew who she was. Her image appeared on the front of magazines and books, posters, lapel pins, and even rugs, but she didn’t know it.”. Take & Give photography acknowledges the shared ownership of personal images!

The Dog Meets World photo team took pictures of every single student at this school in Haiti. We are so accustomed to annual school photos and yearbooks to record how we looked at every grade, that it was hard to imagine that this was the first school photos these children had ever received!

Family in Peru
Phodographer Austin Lane in Huilloq, Peru Nov. 2008

After watching the printing process for quite awhile, this father asked to have a photograph taken of his family. Austin was happy to oblige. The outstanding use of color in the clothing and head ware might some day chronicle this time; as we in the US immediately recognize family photographs from the 50s, 60s, etc as distinct by the dress of the period.
