The Daily Foto: August 8th

NEW Phodographer Annabelle Gallois in Bercy, Haiti, July 2009
Dr Annabelle Gallois a staff scientist for Vistakon writes of her first Dog Meets World experience: What a joy it was to see these beautiful Haitian eyes light up when receiving a picture of them and their family. It was the most precious moment to share. It allowed the children from the orphanage (with whom we were traveling into the neighborhood village) to help out and participate in this photo sharing endeavor. All minds and hearts were wide opened for us to create community together. It brought tears to my eyes.

Phodographer Carolyn Lane in Kuilsrivier, South Africa Feb 2009
Boys will be boys! In their winery provided preschool (crèche) in Zevenwacht, South Africa, the boys were ecstatic and ran around holding their first pictures. In the top photo, Paul couldn’t stop staring at his image with delight.

Phodographer Patti Hughes in Zunil, Guatemala July 2009
The handmade clothing of Zunil was a kaleidoscope of colors. However it was limited to the girls, as the boys wore the standard variety of t-shirts!
Fun with Foto
Another function for Foto! The little stuffed dog already plays many roles for Dog Meets World. Foto is the little furry friend that is an ice-breaker and fun prop for the children. Having Foto in their photo unites the children in a world-wide community of kids and families. Foto is DMW’s official ambassador and mascot and she provides continuity and identification with the project.
However, just this week, it was pointed out that Foto has another important function……the little dog gives everyone something to do with their hands while posing! And everyone definitely gets creative here as you will notice Foto is held an endless variety of ways from straight forward, to cradled to sitting on a kid’s head….!! Jacky Dorleans, School Principal from Haiti, noted “every child has a unique way to hold the dog to express their pride.” Get your own Foto dog today!
